Selina GulleryYoga & meditation & Qi Gong“If you touch one thing with pure awareness, you touch everything” Thich Nath Hanh
This is Selina’s life motto - so whether we are standing in line at a supermarket queue, teaching a class, cooking or attending to our own needs, we need to be aware that all is connected and that in this web of life as we know it, everything is divine, everything is all. We are never not connected. Selina Gullery, B.A. in Modern Languages from Trinity College Dublin; E-RYT 500; YACEP, is an internationally renown yoga teacher, teacher trainer and intuitive chef. Of Irish origin, she spent most of her life living abroad, in Germany, on the West coast of Spain, in England and presently on the foothills of the Vitosha Mountain, Sofia, Bulgaria. From a very young age, she has been on the quest for the deeper meaning of life and her place within it. This led her, in her young years, to continuously explore life at the edge. When she went to her first yoga class in her early twenties, she experienced a deep connection and love she couldn’t explain. It wasn’t until 10 years later, after numerous escapades into other worlds, that she commenced a regular yoga practice and instilled this quest into her own body and mind. She has trained in the Bihar School of Yoga (over 1000hrs), with Shiva Rea (300h), in Anusara (100h) and in numerous other Yoga styles, meditation practices and somatic movement schools. More recently she commenced a voyage of rediscovery of the poets, philosophers and myths of her own country, Ireland. It is here she found herself enraptured in a yoga of homecoming. She is a Senior Teacher at the Celtic School of Yoga and co-leads annual retreats with the founder, folklorist, archaeologist and musician Jack Harrison. |
Jack HarrisonYoga & Poetry & Music & PhilosophyJack on Jack:
I first encountered yoga in the 1970s and 1980s in San Francisco at a yoga school in Haight-Ashbury where I lived and played music. Five years later I was in Galway on the West coast of Ireland and practising with the Irish Wheel of Yoga. I studied many styles including Iyengar and Satyananda, until, in about 2000, I was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga and did a teacher training at Yoga Thailand and later in Dublin and Clare Island, Co Mayo, the island of my mother’s family. This was followed by many more trainings in Anusara Yoga in San Francisco, Paris and Paros in Greece. I began teaching in 2005. I have been playing music and singing since I was child. I have a Masters degree in Irish Folklore and Archaeology and have worked for many years as a consultant and lecturer in Heritage Interpretation. Only recently have I realised that these three interests—yoga, music, and folklore/mythology/ archaeology—had anything to do with each other. And they have now manifested as the Celtic School of Yoga which ties together the yoga traditions of India with those of the Celtic world. I have travelled widely giving workshops, intensives and teacher trainings and I now teach with a strong influence from the Celtic tradition. These practices explore how it is to ally movement of the body with breath, focus, mythology, poetry, music and the natural world—and the astonishing fact of being alive.
